Here’s a Quick Way to Heal your Lips

Napoleon Dynamite : “My lips hurt real bad!”

Classic! This one liner is by far one of the best quotes out there, why?  Because I can relate to it, considering my skin is sensitive and prone to allergies, my lips are also, what works for me? Carmex of course! Over the years I’ve tried and experimented with many different products, leaving my lips flaky, sticky, and most of all peeling … ugh … if you’re anything like me you can understand my frustration and at times annoyance towards the skin care industry, grrr! Lol!

Last year, around Christmas time, a good friend of mine re-introduced me to an old faithful product “Carmex” … perhaps she was tired of looking at my crackling lips? Maybe, but whatever the reason was, my overall look benefited by a million! This is not a joke, think about it, when you interact with people what do you notice first? Not being shallow here, just honest and truthful. I notice lips, eyes, and brows … so if you have severely chapped lips speaking can be difficult and at times painful.

Carmex Moisturizing Lip Balm, 0.35 oz

My love and loyalty for carmex doesn’t stop at the usual tube, but it carries to their new cosmetic lip line as well, and I truly like the new tinted lip care, if you’re a woman like me who cannot wear many lipsticks or glosses, this is a perfect alternative until your lips heal or you find the right product.

Carmex Moisture Plus Ultra Hydrating Lip Balm with SPF 15, Sheer Peach Tint

I hope these products help you as much as they’ve helped me, would love to hear your feedback and advice! Thank you for stopping by and as always “Pass the Blog”!!!

Lacking Radiance?

The Truth of Fruit Acid/Enzyme Treatments

Fruit Acid/Enzyme treatments may be the answer to a fresher more vibrant complexion. An acid or enzyme compound can help purify follicles from debris by removing dead skin from the surface of the epidermis.

Beautiful, radiant complexion stems from healthy cells; clogged pores impede skin renewal, therefore, fruit acids/enzyme treatments may improve skin tone by reducing the appearance of hyper-pigmented areas, dark spots, skin care products penetration, and smoothing of fine lines and wrinkles.

  • When using products containing fruit or enzyme acids use caution, it may thin the surface of the skin and some individuals may experience excessive irritation, and/or peeling of treated area when waxing.
  • Sunscreen use is imperative, fruit or enzyme acids make the skin more sensitive and prone to sunburns, use a SPF-30 for protection.
  • A series of treatments may be beneficial depending on skin type, someone with sensitive skin may need less than a person who has nonsensitive skin, always consult with a professional before choosing.
  • Check with your dermatologist and skin care specialist before using any products containing alpha-hydroxy acids or enzymes.

Don’t waste another minute! Achieving a luminous complexion has never been easier! Book a treatment today!

Beautiful Hands

Treasure your hands

Skin care goes beyond the face, our hands are often neglected in treatments. The primary focus in product selection is the face and neck, leaving our hands out of the loop … our poor hands, they are the reason we can function, they also need to be pampered, let’s show them love by cleansing, exfoliating and protecting them from the sun, not to mention moisturizing day and night.

Skin care goes beyond the face, our hands are often neglected in treatments. The primary focus in product selection is the face, leaving our hands out of the loop … our poor hands, they too need pampering! Let’s show them love by cleansing, exfoliating and protecting them from the sun, not to mention moisturizing them daily.

Starting this week, take 5 minutes, cherish and appreciate your hands, cleanse, exfoliate, and moisturize them! If you bite or pick your nails, stop now, you may develop an infection. Choose products containing plant oils, considering they nourish your skin, and are absorbed into the epidermis faster than mineral oils.

Home-made hand scrubs

Mix 2 tablespoon of sea salt with 2 tablespoon of olive oil. Grab a handful and massage all over hands, concentrating on your fingers and knuckles for 5 minutes, rinse off with warm water. Your hands may feel invigorated and soft again!

Mix a tablespoon of almond or peach kernel oil with 1 tablespoon of sugar and massage your hands with it; great for circulation, leaving your digits blissfully soft!

Masking hands

This step is simple, when you mask your face and neck, simply apply the product to your hands as well! Amazing results!

Moisturize

We all follow a skin regimen before bed, don’t forget to moisturize your hands as well. Once a week,  and wear emollient saturated gloves overnight, this trick will help the moisturizer penetrate into the pores and may begin healing cracked hands.

Sun Protection

Sun exposure ages skin as well as our hands, meaning wrinkles and brown spots! Use a minimum of SPF 15, this may prevent these pesky blemishes, when applying sunscreen to your face, take the time to extend it to your hands also!

Hand treatment is another step to optimal skin care, it’s never too late to begin, let’s begin today!!!

Chemical Peel or Microdermabrasion

Educated choices

With many skin care treatments available, choosing the right one can be difficult. The most popular non-surgical treatment in skin rejuvenation are Chemical Peels and Microdermabrasion. Both may be very effective, leaving the patient with a smoother and even tone complexion.

Chemical Peels

Peels are performed by a doctor or under his/her supervision, anesthetics may be required, depending on the chemical peel strength. Pre-treating the skin with hydroquinone products, retinoids and SPF-30 prior the appointment, may decrease post-treatment inflammation, and cold-sore breakouts, some patients may be prone to them.

Chemical Peels Agents

  • Glycolic Acid
  • Salicylic Acid
  • Trichloroacetic Acid
  • Lactic Acid

3 types of peels

  • Superficial – No down time, the surface of skin layers are removed, improving roughness, some discoloration and fine lines.
  • Medium – Skin may be irritated for a few days, this is a deeper peel, removes the centermost skin layers, aiding in rejuvenation, fewer lines and wrinkles appearance, and a more even pigmented skin tone.
  • Deep – A week to 10 days recovery, beneficial for acne scars, deep-set wrinkles, and skin discoloration. Most doctors will opt for laser treatment instead of this percentage peel, to avoid discomfort.

Always consult with your doctor first, a series of treatments may be required for optimal results, please  follow after care instructions to avoid possible infection or scarring.

Microdermabrasion

This treatment doesn’t need to be performed by the doctor, nor requires anesthetics. Your trusted aesthetician will perform this service, and should take about 20 minutes. However, it may cause your skin some discomfort and redness, lasting a short time. People with couperose skin (broken capillaries) should consult a doctor before choosing this treatment.

Microdermabrasion uses a suction wand with a stream of crystals or a diamond, which carefully exfoliates the skin; as the skin heals, you may see improvements in fine lines and enlarged pores. A series of treatments may be beneficial in achieving lasting results.

Which ever treatment you may choose, please ask questions, consult your doctor or professional, and follow home-care instructions. Please feel free to share your opinion and experience with us!

Foot Remedy

Buying the right type of shoes is important for our entire well-being. Most people are not aware why their backs ache, or have headaches, and/or the footsie are in pain, advice: check your shoes! Do they fit? Do they offer good support? Do you need new ones? Etc…

When you decide to make a new purchase, pick several styles, try them before you buy them, if they don’t feel right, do not buy them! Don’t believe the sales person because they cannot stretch the shoes out!!! How can they possibly know what feels or doesn’t feel right to your feet? They can’t …. so do yourself and feet a favor, move on to the next pair.

Achy Feet

This is a common problem, especially due to job requirements of standing for long periods of time. How about your own private Stone Foot Massage? Find a flat stone, place it in the microwave for a minute, make sure is not too hot, then massage the bottom of your feet and between the toes, until the aches subside. Try it, let me know what you think!

Tired Feet

Epsom salt and a few drops of eucalyptus oil work wonders on tired feet, simply soak them and relax your mind! Essential oils stimulate blood flow and salts aid your body release lactic acid.

Bruised Toe

This is common in kids, their toes hit the top of the tennis shoe, resulting in a bruise beneath the nail. Keep toenails trimmed and groomed, if the problem continues, get a pair of shoes with a bigger toe area.

Ingrown toenails

Pesky ingrown toenails are prevalent in our society, if frequent and bothersome medical advice is recommended, however you can begin at home by cutting nails straight across. Soak your foot in warm water, once the nail is soft, slip a tiny piece of cotton under the area, if becomes infected, please see your doctor.

Bargains

How many times have you walked by these big bargain tables in departments stores, drugstores, or grocery stores? Do you ever check out these items? Well … you should! Sometimes we say to ourselves “I’ll do it on the way out!” but most of the times we forget, so from now on, stop, dig and find! The skin care industry is growing each day, there are many small european companies entering the market, look for Scandinavian, French, German, or Italian products; you can look amazing at the fraction of the cost!
