Little Secrets about Beauty

POSITIVITY

Positive and optimistic attitude is important and associated with youth, why you ask? According to statistics, it shows younger people have not experienced real life challenges, therefore they may appear happier and more upbeat, making them look younger than what they are … I disagree, there have been many instances where an individual faced a life threatening obstacle, illness, or some type of traumatic experience, but that very same individual chose to feel the pain and release it, leaving room for personal and spiritual growth, equating to a positive outlook in life, and eventually moving on. So, why not begin today, and try to do out best in loving ourselves, our age, our soul, and by doing so, let’s smile, the more you smile, the younger you look!

SLEEP

Dark circles, bags, or both? Don’t rush to a plastic surgeon yet, begin by changing your sleeping patterns. You may see a dramatic change from how you feel, to your complexion. Did you know lack of sleep dehydrates the skin? Causing breakouts, uneven color pigmentation, or/and dark patches in the eye area? Begin today! Promise yourself this now, you’ll do the very best in setting an earlier bedtime, by leaving your laptop on the desk, turn your phone off and don’t watch t.v, meditate, and drift your thoughts and mind toward a deep, sound sleep. EXERCISE

Did you know another secret to vibrant looking skin is exercise? Yes, you heard right, exercise helps you feel better about yourself, but it also helps your skin release any toxins via sweat glands. Don’t forget epidermal elasticity, by exercising regularly your body releases natural hormones making your face, neck, and all over appearance look and feel firmer. Give it a try! Exercise your way to beauty!

DRESS TO IMPRESS

Look in your closet, what do you see? Do you like your wardrobe? Or is it time for an update? How do you look and feel? Keep up with changing times and trends! It feels good to look good! Meaning, wearing clothes that fit you, not too loose nor too tight! You deserve to feel and look your best in a casual setting, work environment, or special event, dress to impress yourself! When a person feels good, he or she may smile more, igniting and projecting their inner beauty to the outside world. The Secret of Skin Nourishment

My mother is by far one of the most beautiful, healthy, and intelligent woman I have ever met, she looks amazing, she’s funny and witty, with a sharp mind. I know, some of you may think “Of course you think that, she’s your mother …. ” , but that’s not the case.  Yes, I love her dearly, looking at her from a stranger perspective she has beautiful skin, a head of healthy and full hair, and a stunning shapely body.

What I’ve learned through the years is “Our body is an amazing machine, and it is our duty to keep it healthy”.

Still with me here? …. Good! What is the secret to amazing, supple, and radiant skin? Good nutrients of course! Small changes to our diet make a world of difference, and it’s never too late to start 🙂

Good nutrients are proteins, vitamins, essential fatty acids, and minerals. My mom loves raw almonds, they are high in mono-unsaturated fats, vitamin E and one of the best sources of vegetable protein; eating a handful of raw almonds every few hours will help stabilize blood sugars and boost your energy.

Making your own trail mix is fun and a healthy snack

  • 1 cup  raw almonds
  • 1 cup pumpkin seeds
  • 1/2 cup raisins (I prefer golden raisins)
  • 1/2 cup dried cherries and pomegranate seed (or cranberries)

You can find all of  the ingredients at your local health food store, we prefer Whole Foods.

Refined sugars have negative effects to our health, they inhibit white blood cells efficiency, (which help fight bacteria and infections), avoiding these sugars from our daily diet are imperative to our overall well-being, e.g., will help boost your natural energy, decrease blood fats, including the slowing down of the skin aging process.

I would like to thank my mom for sharing this valuable secret to a more beautiful and radiant skin, which now I’m sharing with you!  🙂

Blissfully Calm

1, 2, and 3 … center and calm yourself.

Breathe in, and breathe out, calm yourself and find that happy place.

How much more cliché can you get? According to psychological studies stress damages the skin as well as our health. How? Think about it, when we worry our minds are in a state of anxiety, causing individuals to panic about situations or problems, possibly resulting in making poor choices and mistakes, not to mention the domino effect to our internal health. A stressed person may forget to eat regularly, take vitamins, or  drink water (which is imperative to our organism); however, one may also indulge in food, alcohol, and/or drugs, all having negative effects to our mind and body.

Snooze time is also a factor, stress causes sleep deprivation causing dark circles under eyes, (dark circles are not always a sign of stress,  depends on health conditions, and ethnicity as well), taking away from the radiance of skin complexion, triggering breakouts, allergies, and many more skin problems. Lack of sleep also causes premature aging and sleep disorders. Avoid staying up late, we all need our Beauty Sleep, if stress is interfering with the rest you desperately need, seek ways to calm your mind, try meditation, swimming, yoga, or anything that relaxes your nerves, or makes you smile.

Calm yourself by centering your emotions. Don’t be another statistic related to stress! Life is beautiful, cherish every single moment!!!

Simple Sun Solutions

Skin protection

Sun exposure speeds up the aging process by damaging DNA, which may deform cells, contributing to cancer. We often apply sunscreen to children first, then monitor their sun exposure, redness, and play-time, leaving ourselves unprotected and victims to environmental factors like UVB and UVA rays, which can cause immediate sunburn and long-term damage to our skin.

Starting today, care for yourself as well, apply sunscreen to your face, neck, chest, hands, feet, and all over the body. Stay in the shade if possible, use hats and sunglasses, protect yourself, stop the premature aging process now!

According to studies, a regular T-shirt has only an SPF ranging from 3 to 7? Did you know eyelids and the top of your ears are in danger of sunburn as well? When shopping for sunscreen products choose an SPF of 30 or greater, depending on exposure and activity. Look for products with UVA and UVB protection containing Parson.

Top 10 Sunscreens

1. Hawaiian Tropic Sheer Touch Lotion SPF 30

2. Banana Boat Sport Performance Continuous Spray SPF 50

3. Coppertone Water Babies Sunscreen Stick SPF 55

4. Neutrogena Spectrum + Advanced Sunblock Face SPF 100

5. Burt’s Bees Chemical-Free Sunscreen SPF 30

6. Aveeno Sunblock Spray SPF 70

8. Murad Waterproof Sunblock SPF 30

9. Cellex-C Suncare SPF 30

Lacking Radiance?

The Truth of Fruit Acid/Enzyme Treatments

Fruit Acid/Enzyme treatments may be the answer to a fresher more vibrant complexion. An acid or enzyme compound can help purify follicles from debris by removing dead skin from the surface of the epidermis.

Beautiful, radiant complexion stems from healthy cells; clogged pores impede skin renewal, therefore, fruit acids/enzyme treatments may improve skin tone by reducing the appearance of hyper-pigmented areas, dark spots, skin care products penetration, and smoothing of fine lines and wrinkles.

  • When using products containing fruit or enzyme acids use caution, it may thin the surface of the skin and some individuals may experience excessive irritation, and/or peeling of treated area when waxing.
  • Sunscreen use is imperative, fruit or enzyme acids make the skin more sensitive and prone to sunburns, use a SPF-30 for protection.
  • A series of treatments may be beneficial depending on skin type, someone with sensitive skin may need less than a person who has nonsensitive skin, always consult with a professional before choosing.
  • Check with your dermatologist and skin care specialist before using any products containing alpha-hydroxy acids or enzymes.

Don’t waste another minute! Achieving a luminous complexion has never been easier! Book a treatment today!

Choices …

Racing for Youth

Is a youthful appearance worth time, money and effort? Many people ask themselves this question, first let’s thank the media, movie stars, and entertainment industry for the answer, which is a big fat “YES”. I would love to argue, and validate “our natural perfection”, unfortunately I am unable to do so. Considering I reside in Southern California, the land of the beauty, where stars are abundant and top plastic surgeons right beside them?

With many different options available, how does anyone know where, how much, or which treatment to pick? The choice is essentially yours, however a great dermatologist will guide you to a better and natural you, without gouging your bank account.

How to choose a doctor or surgeon?

As the quest for eternal youth begins, look around! From my professional opinion, anything cosmetic is aesthetically pleasing, natural, and subtle. Recommendations from another doctor or a close friend, are the best when selecting a doctor or surgeon; don’t settle with one, but gather a few numbers, make a few appointments, and find someone who you can relate to and feel comfortable with.

Don’t be shy! Ask if they have a patient portfolio you can look at! Before and after pictures are priceless in choosing the right doctor for you, flip through the pages, ask questions, i.e. success rates in procedure or complications due to surgery, and recovery time (may vary depending on age, health, or other conditions).

Is your doctor Board Certified? Ask him/her, knowing the field your doctor is certified in is imperative to the results you want; also, do your own research! You may find information regarding your doctor online Doctorfinder

Are you racing for youth? If so, please be safe, choose carefully, don’t forget to ask questions and be comfortable doing it!
