Luscious Skin Secrets

Having beautiful, soft skin isn’t always easy due to external factors which may potentially be dehydrating or/and harmful to the body’s largest organ. So, how do you keep your skin supple, healthy with a glowing look? Who else wants the ultimate secret to a smoother, more luscious, and dazzling skin? How can we protect this vital organ from pollution, climate changes, medication, and allergies? Why should we compromise our natural skin by depriving it from nourishment, hydration, and pliability?  Why not achieve a blissful glow by increasing our fluid intake, adding vitamin supplements, and using restorative products?

My mom is by far one of the most beautiful women I have ever met, she looks 30 years younger than her age; she’s well-educated, strong, and intelligent … I’m not saying this because she’s my mother, but because it’s the honest truth. She’s thought me the importance of skin care maintenance by protecting and nourishing it in every possible way, making it an imperative factor in slowing down the aging process. Growing up I didn’t pay much attention to it, however, the daily tips, comments, and continuous advice stuck with me, and today I follow them. My favorite is Vaseline Coco-Butter Vitalizing Gel Body Oil, this is a cheap product and goes a long way by leaving my skin with amazing results. I invite all of my readers and followers to give it a try to share all feedback and advice with me, I want to learn what your thoughts are.

The way I use this magnificent product is in the shower, … yup, you read it right, in the shower. According to Best Kisses kissing has amazing health benefits “Kissing is a known stress-reliever. Passionate kissing relieves tension, reduces negative energy and produces a sense of well-being, lowering your cortisol ‘stress’ hormone.”

The 10 Best Eye Products Ever

“The beauty of a woman must be seen from in her eyes,

because that is the doorway to her heart,

the place where love resides.”

~ Audrey Hepburn

Clothes, accessories, and material thing are not enough, what stands out about a woman is the true beauty of her eyes. The make-up industry is overly saturated with products, colors, and myths; as a consumer (on a budget), finding the right line can be difficult and at times frustrating.

Secrets, secrets, and more secrets … ssshhhh!!! I’m sharing  my favorite top 10 eye products, have fun reading and experimenting!  Today’s trend …  The luscious cat eye look of course!  Bring out your inner Vixen, this SEXY look can be yours as well, follow the few easy steps listed below, and as always choose your products wisely =)

Step 1:

Apply a lighter shade of eyeshadow  all over the eyelid using a large eyeshadow brush. Blending it to perfection is key. Use a  longwearing crease resistant formula as NARS single Eyeshadow, in a series of uniquely paired color combinations.  Worn together or alone, all duo eye-shadow can be applied sheer or built up for a more dramatic effect.   Why should you use N.A.R.S.? Simple, it applies smoothly, blends easily, crease resistant, awesome color, and mostly is long-lasting.

Step 3:

Apply a darker color into the outer crease of your eyelid. This should go all the way to the outermost portion of the crease. Ultra-pigmented, high-impact signature shades with tone-on-tone sparkling pearl that create beautiful dimension for the eye. Long-wearing, crease-resistant colors can be worn for both subtly shimmering and seriously smoky effects. Color glides on smoothly and evenly and blends effortlessly.

Step 4:

Blend, blend, blend gently  the crease color, make sure under the brow is still highlighted, make it look like a gradual process without any lines from shadow colors used.

Step 5:

Using a liquid eyeliner, begin painting a straight line,  slightly slanting upwards when getting closer to the middle of your eye and extend it past the corner of your eye. Once the outline is filled, start  filling  it in. Add a wing (upwards) to the upper lash line. Draw an even line along the bottom of the eye, always building up slowly, don’t forget to connect the upper and lower lash lines. Remove any excess with a clean Q-tip dipped in warm water, (reduces errors and unwanted smudges).

Here’s a Quick Way to Heal your Lips

Napoleon Dynamite : “My lips hurt real bad!”

Classic! This one liner is by far one of the best quotes out there, why?  Because I can relate to it, considering my skin is sensitive and prone to allergies, my lips are also, what works for me? Carmex of course! Over the years I’ve tried and experimented with many different products, leaving my lips flaky, sticky, and most of all peeling … ugh … if you’re anything like me you can understand my frustration and at times annoyance towards the skin care industry, grrr! Lol!

Last year, around Christmas time, a good friend of mine re-introduced me to an old faithful product “Carmex” … perhaps she was tired of looking at my crackling lips? Maybe, but whatever the reason was, my overall look benefited by a million! This is not a joke, think about it, when you interact with people what do you notice first? Not being shallow here, just honest and truthful. I notice lips, eyes, and brows … so if you have severely chapped lips speaking can be difficult and at times painful.

Carmex Moisturizing Lip Balm, 0.35 oz

My love and loyalty for carmex doesn’t stop at the usual tube, but it carries to their new cosmetic lip line as well, and I truly like the new tinted lip care, if you’re a woman like me who cannot wear many lipsticks or glosses, this is a perfect alternative until your lips heal or you find the right product.

Carmex Moisture Plus Ultra Hydrating Lip Balm with SPF 15, Sheer Peach Tint

I hope these products help you as much as they’ve helped me, would love to hear your feedback and advice! Thank you for stopping by and as always “Pass the Blog”!!!

The Secret of Skin Nourishment

My mother is by far one of the most beautiful, healthy, and intelligent woman I have ever met, she looks amazing, she’s funny and witty, with a sharp mind. I know, some of you may think “Of course you think that, she’s your mother …. ” , but that’s not the case.  Yes, I love her dearly, looking at her from a stranger perspective she has beautiful skin, a head of healthy and full hair, and a stunning shapely body.

What I’ve learned through the years is “Our body is an amazing machine, and it is our duty to keep it healthy”.

Still with me here? …. Good! What is the secret to amazing, supple, and radiant skin? Good nutrients of course! Small changes to our diet make a world of difference, and it’s never too late to start 🙂

Good nutrients are proteins, vitamins, essential fatty acids, and minerals. My mom loves raw almonds, they are high in mono-unsaturated fats, vitamin E and one of the best sources of vegetable protein; eating a handful of raw almonds every few hours will help stabilize blood sugars and boost your energy.

Making your own trail mix is fun and a healthy snack

  • 1 cup  raw almonds
  • 1 cup pumpkin seeds
  • 1/2 cup raisins (I prefer golden raisins)
  • 1/2 cup dried cherries and pomegranate seed (or cranberries)

You can find all of  the ingredients at your local health food store, we prefer Whole Foods.

Refined sugars have negative effects to our health, they inhibit white blood cells efficiency, (which help fight bacteria and infections), avoiding these sugars from our daily diet are imperative to our overall well-being, e.g., will help boost your natural energy, decrease blood fats, including the slowing down of the skin aging process.

I would like to thank my mom for sharing this valuable secret to a more beautiful and radiant skin, which now I’m sharing with you!  🙂

The Secret Moisturizer?

Winter, this is one is for you ! 🙂

A good friend asked  “who makes an efficient and affordable moisturizer?“… hmmm … thinking of  great and efficient products including moisturizers, $$$ signs come to mind. It is what it is; however, let me share a few tips, hoping to make a difference in your product selection and purchase.

A few questions came to me, such as:

Do we have to pay high dollars for hydrated skin? Well, it’s a personal choice depending on your budget.

Is the skin care industry saturated with big promises and little results? It sure is!

How can you be sure you won’t develop a reaction to a product? You’ll find the answer below 🙂

I don’t feel it’s fair for companies to advertise, push costly and ineffective products, by bombarding us with cheesy pink and neon green ads, claiming to erase wrinkles in 3-weeks, or your money back is absurd! Who has the time to buy products, use them, and if not liked, package them up, go to the post office and return them? Did you know it takes 3-4 weeks for cells to regenerate, making it difficult for an individual to see/feel any difference? My conclusion, (or opinion), 30 days money back guarantees are essentially worthless.

Please understand any products mentioned in this blog, are items I personally use and believe in. Now, let’s get back to moisturizing, what makes one brand more effective than another? Together, let’s answer a few essential questions.

Q: Do you know your skin?

A: If your skin feels dry and tight around your eyes and cheeks, you need to moisturize. If the answer is no, perhaps you can avoid this item, why over moisturize when the skin’s ph is normal or oily? Over-moisturizing is bad for your skin, leaving you with a shiny, greasy look (not the pretty one either).

Q: What’s the difference between a good moisturizer and a bad one?

A: Depending on your skin type, you may need more humectant ingredients, (which elevates the hydration of the skin to minimize the dehydrating effect of some active ingredients like corticoids), or emollients in your moisturizer, ( substances that soften and soothe the skin. They are used to correct dryness and scaling of the skin. They are a key component in the manufacture of lipstick, lotions, and other cosmetic products).

Often used humectants ingredients include the following: sodium hyaluronate; glycerin; sorbitol; butylene glycol; sodium PCA; etc.

There are many emollients agents, for example: sunflower oil, avocado oil, jojoba oil; plant oils; mineral oils; shea, cocoa butter; lanolin; fats such as caprylic triglycerides; silicone and similar ingredients, help guard moisture and protects the skin.

Q: What about fragrance and preservatives?

A: Well, both of these agents may cause skin irritation, breakouts, rashes and so on. Fragrance is not hard to avoid; however, preservatives are, so my advice is to find a fragrant free product that works for your skin type and budget.

Over moisturizing has negative effects on the skin, clogging  pores with unnecessary products will leave your complexion looking dull and prone to breakouts. Always consult a physician if blemishes persist, or change shape, use your best judgement.

Below are a few products I love, check out my slideshow: Guinot, Biodroga, Babor, Nivea, Neutrogena, Oil of Olay, and Burt’s Bee.

Enjoy!

Is your face the roadmap to health?

Your skin is trying to speak, … listen …

Our face is the roadmap to health;  face mapping has been around for centuries, used in traditional Chinese medicine, which observes the appearance/feel of the skin, by determining the well-being of the body, mind, and spirit. Acupuncturists, doctors, homeopathy, nurses, aestheticians, massage therapists, use this practice in better evaluating  patients seeking an alternative  to Western medicine, by naturally healing the body from inside out.

The Forehead – Intestinal imbalance

Breakouts in this area is an indication of colon congestion or purging and cleansing are occurring.

If the area is red, it may be an indication of excessive intake of stimulating foods, salt, red meat, or dairy products.

If the are appears white, too much sugar consumption, artificial ingredients, drugs, caffeine, or fruit (which contain natural sugars), may be the problem. Moderation is always best.

Lips – Stomach

Cracked and dry lips may be a warning the intestines are not working properly, or our diet is high in preservative content. Lipsticks contain dyes, which compromise mouth and saliva enzymes by inhibiting proper digestion.

Vertical line between the eyes – Liver

Liver malfunctions, disorders and weaknesses may be caused by alcohol, drugs, poor diet, excessive preservatives, don’t ignore this signal, pancreatic cancer is the fourth silent killer in the United States.

For more information please visit CANCER AND PANCREAS

Lines on either sides of the brow bone – Spleen

The spleen, know as the filtering organ, once clogged will create stress-related illnesses, and behavioral changes. The lines on either side of the brow bone, may also be linked to tight shoulder area, (again stress related), which may indicate a malfunction of the adrenal glands.

Under eyes darkening – Kidneys

If under eyes begin darkening to brown or black, it may be a sign of kidneys malfunction. If the area also becomes irritated, red, swollen, too many rich foods are part of the diet, alcohol, and/or nicotine, drugs, or other substances may be the cause of the problem.

Nose redness – Male reproductive organs

Redness around the nose, in males, may signal prostate gland malfunction. Similar to the forehead, redness around the nose may also indicate excessive salt, red meat or dairy products consumption; if area surrounding the nose is white, then too much intake of sugar, artificial ingredients, drugs, caffeine or fruit may be the problem.

Tip of the nose redness – Heart

Expanded capillaries, swollen tissue, redness, may indicate heart conditions and high blood pressure.

Cheek area and/or nostrils irritation – Lungs

If the cheek area and/or  irritations in the nostrils consists of blackheads, white heads, the person may have bronchial problems and frequent colds, may also be another sign of poor diet, too much sugar, and dairy products.

Mouth – Stomach

Irritation surrounding the mouth and lips, may indicate poor digestion, and lack of enzyme in the stomach acid.

Chin – Female reproductive organs

Hormonal imbalances in women are manifested on the chin with breakouts, which cause migraines, mood swings, yeast infections, irregular menstruation. Chin breakouts are red and bumpy, cystic like, and painful, depending on the condition. These types of breakouts may continue for months, hormonal therapy may be a solution, however, it may mean a type of weakness in the reproductive organs.

A balanced diet, proper exercise, daily skin care regimen, stress reduction with meditation, are simple ways to achieve optimal health, and the road to a healthy complexion! Let’s begin today!

As always, thank you for reading!
