The 3 Truths About Peels

Actual testimonials of REAL people who preformed DIY peels. Please be sure to receive services from a skin care professional!

1. Used my glycolic peel last night and got distracted… my face is covered with weeping sores, I look like I’ve been scraped along the road… I’m really upset. Please help! I used 50% glycolic acid. I usually do it for 2-3 mins which results in a bit of flaking for 3-4 days. I was doing my hair at the same time and got distracted, so it was on for 5 mins and the only thing which doesn’t hurt is sudocreme. If anyone has any suggestions or has had a serious peel in a salon and knows what to expect I would be really grateful.  ~ Liz

2. I gave myself a GA peel and seemed fine (30% GA, 2.1 PH and 6-8 minutes). then this past monday I did another after about 3 weeks after my last … Anyways it burned the sides of my chin and scabbed over, a lot worst than I ever had and I look horrible!!! The scabs hurt, itch, and I must visit a dermatologist for help. Anything I can do to improve this???! Will this leave red marks?  My entire face and neck are discolored! Help! ~ Lori

3. I JUST USED A 60% GLYCOL/LACTIC acid peel from skin laboratory and I got a burnt on the upper part of my lip and my chin!!! I accidentally scrubbed too hard with my cotton pad when I was using water after leaving it for more than 10 mins on!! S**T What should I do? I can literally see the NEXT layer of skin beneath… OMG! ~ Anonymous

Strawberry DIY Facial

Super Cleanser For Oily Skin

Did you know strawberries are

Top 5 tips for oily skin:

  • Cleanse in the morning and night only; more cleansing creates more stimulation to oil glands.
  • Stop eating fast-food! Fast-food is full of oils, which comes out through your pores.
  • Lavender oil helps soothe red acne, breakouts, and calm your nerves.
  • Be sure all products used are oil free.
  • With a kleenex gently blot away excess face shininess.

Strawberries Fields

Here you go! According to WebMd — The tiny strawberry is packed with vitamin C, fiber, antioxidants, and more. The heart-shaped silhouette of the strawberry is the first clue that this fruit is good for you. These potent little packages protect your heart, increase HDL (good) cholesterol, lower your blood pressure, and guard against cancer.

Packed with vitamins, fiber, and particularly high levels of antioxidants known as polyphenols, strawberries are a sodium-free, fat-free, cholesterol-free, low-calorie food. They are among the top 20 fruits in antioxidant capacity and are a good source of manganese and potassium. Just one serving — about eight strawberries — provides more vitamin C than an orange.

This member of the rose family isn’t really a fruit or a berry but the enlarged receptacle of the flower. Choose medium-sized berries that are firm, plump, and deep red; once picked, they don’t ripen further. First cultivated in ancient Rome, strawberries are now the most popular berry fruit in the world. In provincial France, they were regarded as an aphrodisiac. These red gems may be good for your heart in more ways than one.

Nature offers many antiseptics, we can benefit from them and heal common health problems with a little help . Every household should have tea tree oil and grapefruit seed extract handy, they are the most powerful natural disinfectants on earth.

Tea tree oil and grapefruit seed extract

You Shouldn’t Buy This Unless…

image

Really, stop reading! You don’t want the perfect complexion, do you? Lol, just kidding, please carry on.

I came across this Skincare line a while back, but dismissed it due to our saturated market of “Try this! You’ll preserve your youth forever!” or “Magic scar eraser in a tube, or your money back guaranteed”, my fellow advertisers, seriously? Can’t you come up with better ads? I would like to thank  Megan Nolan, a good friend of mine and beauty stylist /skincare specialist consultant for Nordstrom at “The Oaks”, handed me simply designed catalog with the ARCONA brand printed across it. My first reaction was… No Thank you, but then, I decided to give it a try.

What happened next? I became a believer!!!! A-M-A-Z-I-N-G results! I’m in awwwwww! My skin feels ridiculously smooth, beautiful, clear, and supple! I’m a happy camper and will continue this regiment 🙂

Here’s why, “ARCONA is known and respected for its high quality, luxury formulations and their unparalleled ability to make a positive change to the skin. The key to ARCONA’s effectiveness is its active ingredients and the way they are combined and processed. Cosmeceutical-grade ingredients, such as enzymes, antioxidants and amino acids, are formulated to work synergistically to deliver powerful results. These active ingredients are cold-processed at very low temperatures, in small batches, to keep them active and effective. Because cold processing is labor and time intensive, most skin care products, even the expensive ones that may begin with quality ingredients, are heat processed, which ultimately leaves nutrients lifeless and ineffective.”

I encourage you to try it on your own! Go see Megan Nolan, she works with Nordstrom at “The Oaks” Mall, located in Thousand Oaks, California. Tell her Anna from A Blissful Skin sent you, and she will turn you into a believer too!

2014 Happy New Year!

Do You Know Organic?

Organic is Vibrant well-being

Fruits and vegetables are imperative for our well-being, before antibiotics, our ancestors relied upon Mother Nature for effective and safe remedies. Healthy skin is achieved from within, I would like to share a few recipe treatments using of my favorite  healing foods.

Organic Seeds

Pineapple

  • Reduces inflammation
  • Speeds up tissue repair
  • Protects bones
  • Energizing
  • Immunity booster

Pineapple is rich in vitamin C, manganese, and bromelain. If your skin is dry, soak it in warm water for 10 minutes, cut a piece of pineapple peel and place it flesh-side down on the area, (miracle worker for dry heels), you may secure it with ace bandages, leave over night. When removing the dressing, gently peel it back, soak the area in warm water for 5 minutes, and dry. You may repeat this up to 3 nights, resulting in amazingly soft skin!

Pumpkin Seeds

  • Promotes prostate health
  • Fights fatigue
  • Aids memory
  • Helps skin complexion

What a great snack! Pumpkin seeds are high in zinc, iron, protein, omega-3 fatty acids, and B-complex vitamins. Excellent snack, easy to carry around and super healthy!

Slippery Elm

  • Soothes digestive tract
  • Eases colic
  • Emollient
  • Soothes sore throat
  • Calms irritated skin

Slippery elm is a soothing herb, used internally may help prevent digestive problems, crohn’s disease, and colitis. Used topically, slippery elm soothes wounds, burns, itchy and irritated skin. Cleanse the skin, then apply this soothing magical herb to the area and leave for 5 minutes, repeat as needed.

Milk

  • First-class protein
  • Strengthens bones
  • Rich in calcium

Milk does the body and skin good! Full of calcium, vitamin-B, iron and zinc, some studies have shown it may be good for the brain, nourishes the skin, reduces liver’s production of cholesterol and lowers blood pressure. How about a milk & honey bath lotion? Simply add half a cup of milk, 2 eggs, 3 tbls oil, 2 tsp honey, 2 tsp organic shampoo and 1 tbsp vodka in a bowl, mix together and pour in a glass bottle. You may add 3-4 tablespoons to bath water. (Keep the home-made lotion in the fridge, and use within 3-5 days)

Tea Tree

  • Antifungal
  • Antiseptic
  • Treats skin infections
  • Used for oral infections

Tea tree is an effective remedy for a brad range of ailments, especially fungal and skin problems like acne, insect bites, athlete’s foot, yeast infections, ringworm, sore throats, may help combat gum disease, and useful for colds. Tea tree skin wash is amazing, make your own! 1 tsp dried or 2 tsp fresh tea tree leaves and 1 cup of freshly boiled water. Steep the herbs in water for 10 minutes, then strain. Leave it to cool, then bathe the skin of affected area, repeat as needed.
